Andrew C Grigsby


Andrew has spent more than 20 years as an entrepreneur, educator, and leader promoting sustainability and has cultivated ranging expertise in the areas of sustainable community development and design, building science and green building, and distributed energy resources and the clean energy revolution.

Andrew became the Business Development Director for Secure Futures Solar in 2017 and focuses on spreading the word about the incredible new opportunities in solar power for schools, local governments, and other non-profit entities in Virginia. Previously, he was the Executive Director of Virginia’s Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP), a non-profit headquartered in Charlottesville with a mission to bring clean energy solutions to families, businesses, and communities across Virginia. Prior to joining LEAP in 2015, Andrew spent 14 years as founding principal of Commonwealth Sustainability Works, a consulting firm focused on high-performance construction, sustainable land use, and green strategies for business. And before that he served as manager of the City of Austin, Texas’ Sustainable Communities Initiative.

He is a RESNET Home Energy Rater and he holds NABCEP’s energy-level solar certification. His formal education includes a master's degree in community and regional planning from The University of Texas and a bachelor's degree in social theory from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Andrew lives in the Woodland Heights/Swansboro area of Richmond with his wife, Trista, who is the Farm to School Specialist for the Virginia Department of Education. They have two young boys.
